At High Demand Restoration, we take pride in our ability to tackle even the most difficult mould issues in your property. A common area where we often encounter mould problems is in bathrooms, where homeowners frequently report having "tried everything" without success.
When we take on these challenges, we conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that no detail is overlooked in addressing your mould concerns. Some might consider our approach overkill, but we believe it’s necessary to achieve the best possible outcomes in mould removal.
One of the most commonly overlooked steps in mould remediation is containment. During this stage, we create a physical barrier to isolate the mould spores to one area. Without proper containment, these spores can rapidly spread throughout the home, raising the risk of additional issues.
The second step in our process involves swabbing the affected areas to determine the concentration of mould. This creates a baseline for comparison, enabling us to clearly show the significant reduction in mould spores after treatment.
Throughout the project, we use a HEPA filter within the contained area to continuously remove mould spores and other contaminants from the air. This helps minimise the risk of contamination outside the containment zone.
After securing the area, we begin assessing the full extent of mould contamination. This involves a thorough inspection of every corner of your bathroom—behind mirrors and cabinets, around door and window frames, showers, baths, and beyond. If needed, we may even remove small sections of drywall or access the roof cavities above your bathroom to ensure a comprehensive evaluation. In some instance we will also utilise and endoscope camera to inspect behind drywall and in tough spots.
Now that we've fully identified the scope of the issue, we'll treat the mould with a high-grade, commercial solution. We will apply it to every surface possible, ensuring complete coverage and capturing any lingering spores.
Because grout is porous, hidden mould spores can continue to spread even after treatment. We recommend removing the affected grout and replacing it with fresh grout. Additionally, we advise sealing the grout to prevent future water penetration and mould growth.
After treatment, we recommend repainting any affected walls and ceilings, incorporating a mould-resistant additive. This creates a protective barrier that not only improves the look of your space but also prevents future mould growth by eliminating the conditions that foster it.
Over time, caulking can break down and become an ideal breeding ground for mould. We recommend removing the old caulking and replacing it with fresh, contaminant-free material to prevent further issues.
An often overlooked but crucial step is cleaning the sink, shower, and overflow drains. These drains can harbour mould spores, which, if not properly cleaned, may spread back into your bathroom.
To minimise the risk of future mould growth, we will install an exhaust fan. This fan effectively removes warm, damp air from the bathroom, creating an environment less favourable for mould development.
Once the project is complete, we will perform a final swab to evaluate the improvements made to the environment. This ensures peace of mind, knowing that your bathroom is now safe and suitable for your family.
